About this policy

PONERIAN LLC provides SceneThread, an app that makes a brand's videos shoppable. This policy explains what data SceneThread processes and how it is handled.

Data we process

For merchants, SceneThread processes the store's name and domain, the email address used to sign in (for stores that sign in directly), and the store's Shopify access credentials, kept encrypted. It processes the product catalog needed to find products in films: titles, links, prices and product images. It stores the videos merchants upload, and the frames, posters and film details made from them.

SceneThread does not collect personal data from shoppers. It does not request customer profiles, orders, or contact details. Shopify's required privacy webhooks may include customer details, which SceneThread does not save. SceneThread does not collect payment details. Shopify handles billing.

How we use data

We use this data only to run SceneThread: to find a merchant's products in their videos, show their films, keep films in sync with their Shopify store, send sign-in emails, and provide support. We do not sell data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

To find products, SceneThread sends video frames and product images to Amazon Bedrock in the United States, which runs the AI models (Anthropic Claude and Amazon Titan). Amazon Bedrock does not use this data to train models. Every match is a draft until the merchant reviews and approves it.

On the storefront

On Shopify stores, the film plays from Shopify and product details come from Shopify. Film frames and posters load from SceneThread's content delivery network, Amazon CloudFront. Like any web request, these include basic browser information such as an IP address. SceneThread does not log these requests or use them to identify shoppers.

The player remembers in the browser's local storage whether a shopper has used its keyboard shortcuts, so it can stop showing the hint. SceneThread adds no cookies, analytics or advertising.

Where data is processed

SceneThread runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States: the app server, file storage, content delivery, email delivery and AI models. Shopify and Amazon Web Services process data as service providers needed to operate SceneThread.

Security

SceneThread uses HTTPS for all traffic. Shopify access credentials are encrypted at rest. API keys are stored only as one-way hashes. SceneThread stores no passwords. Merchants sign in through Shopify or with a one-time email link. Access is limited to what is needed to operate the service.

Retention and deletion

SceneThread keeps a store's data while the app is installed. Deleting a film removes its files from storage and from the content delivery network, and removes it from the Shopify store. Original uploads are deleted automatically after 30 days. SceneThread keeps a web-ready copy for playback.

When a merchant uninstalls the app, SceneThread removes its Shopify access right away. When Shopify then sends its store-deletion request, SceneThread deletes the store's records, videos and files. Merchants who sign in directly can ask us to delete their account at any time.

Merchant and shopper choices

Merchants can set any film to draft, delete films, or uninstall SceneThread. Shoppers can ask the merchant who runs the store about their data. Since SceneThread holds no shopper data, such requests have nothing to return or delete on our side. PONERIAN LLC responds to valid requests received through Shopify's privacy process.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when SceneThread or the law changes. The date above shows the latest version.
